The Famous Five Series – Enid Blyton

Enid Blyton … the name is very common amongst any 5th to 8th standard students … atleast it was in my school.

Enid Blyton has written tonnes of Children’s books … the Famous Five beingone of them.
I have read quite a few of them when I was in my Middle School and even do so every now and then when I feel like.

The famous five series has 5 characters – 2 boys and 2 girls and one dog. The series does not have much of mystery, but it has quite a lot of adventure.

This series of books has higher English than that of the Secret Seven, so it is recommended for 6th to 7th graders …

The most beautiful part of these books is the amazing locales that Enid Blyton manages to paint … its truly amazing … Every time I want to visit Europe, I grab one of these books from the book shelf and I am there.
The language used is not to childish … nor too difficult … it is just right.

The misty mornings, the green pastures, the warm October Sun, 4 kids and a dog on green hill top and that crisp winter breeze … enjoying their picnic … with cakes and sandwiches … and ginger beer …

If these descriptions get you mentally hugging yourself, and you get transported to that far away place that you have never been or never will be … but always wanted to be, grab a famous five … you won’t regret the couple of hours reading the book …

Go cuddle up on the couch on a wet, rainy day … and get transported …
